Art show @ Sacred Art

Sacred Art, the Roscoe Village store that sells hand-made wares from local crafters, presents its final art show of the year. Come see new artwork by Anastasia Makarenko, Joe Smigielski, and Citizen Shay. There will also be complimentary drinks and massages by Roscoe Village masseuse Brandy Ware. Starship Troopers @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center is running a series of science fiction films through the end of the year. This week's film is the Paul Verhoeven film Starship Troopers. The film screens tonight at 6:00 PM, and again on Tuesday the 21st at 6:00. The Tuesday night screening will also include a lecture/discussion by SAIC professor Jim Trainor. Jazz Fusion @ Athenaeum Theatre

Chicago Human Rhythm Project @ Harris Theater

As part of Global Rhythms 2, the Chicago Human Rhythm Project presents a new show by Sheketak, from Israel, featuring percussive dance, hip-hop, live music, and "a new universe of sights and sounds." Pearls & Brass @ Empty Bottle

Pearls & Brass from Nazareth, Pennsylvania play a brand of rock music in the same vein as early Yardbirds and a dronier Queens of the Stone Age. "Sludge" and "chug" would both be appropriate words to describe their riff-heavy songs. They'll headline the Empty Bottle at 1035 N. Tonight, get a mega-dose of hotness before the winter months set in as Diplo headlines with a guest DJ appearance at Smart Bar.
