Douglas Hoerr: Dimensional Thinking with Innovative Horticulture

Douglas Hoerr is an internationally recognized landscape architect based in Chicago. He designed the boulevard gardens on Michigan Avenue, helped create the Garfield Conservatory grounds and serves as a consultant to the Chicago Botanic Garden. His work explores the interplay between chaos and control and the boundary between undisturbed nature and designed landscape. Thursday, March 22 at 8:00 pm. The evening begins with wine & hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 pm and an opportunity to explore the Conservatory gardens at 7:00 pm. $30. RSVP here.

Chicago Public Radio's program This American Life premieres tonight on television. The producers of the radio series have created a TV version of the show, which premieres on Showtime tonight. Check local listings for the time of the program.

Tonight Gen Art holds another installment of their semi-annual Shop CHICago. This event offers shoppers the opportunity to buy clothing and accessories directly from emerging local designers and boutique owners while trying out some beauty treatments and enjoying some complimentary cocktails. Come to the Great Hall at Union Station at 210 S. Canal St. from 6-10pm to check it all out. General admission is free, but reservations are required.
