Sponsored by Chicago magazine and 98.7 WFMT, Writers on the Record is a free monthly literary series hosted by Victoria Lautman that gives audiences the unique chance to be audience to interviews of renowned and notable authors. At 12pm today, Lautman welcomes Anne Lamott, author of Blue Shoe and Bird by Bird, among many others. Admission is free but reservations are required; get them by calling 312-832-6789. The Girlie-Q Variety Hour, Chicago's queerest and campiest burlesque-variety show, will be back to entertain with "That Toddlin' Town!" -- a tribute to Chicago, on Sunday, March 25, 2007. Tonight's performers include singers, dancers, trivia masters and assorted other sexy people. Plus, you can win prizes from Early to Bed. The show starts at 8 pm at HotHouse, 31 E. Balbo in Chicago, and costs just $10.
Join Kuumba Lynx for their spring production "WORD" on Sunday at either 1pm or 4pm. This show has a new cast of Kuumba Lynx members representing Chicago's North, West & South Side communties. KL's shows are politically charged and feature incredible footwork and will also include skateboarding, graff artists, the Connect Force Break-Dancing crew, and new video work. The cost for the show will be $12 for adults & $ 8 for children & students. The show will take place at Alternatives 4710 N. Sheridan, a block south of Lawrence.
