The Distance of the Moon @ Uptown Writer's Space

BoyGirlBoyGirl (Chicago authors/actors Edward Thomas-Herrera, Stephanie Shaw, David Kodeski & Susan Karp) and the BGBG Ladies Auxiliary (Rachel Claff & Diana Slickman) present an evening of readings inspired by the Italo Calvino story "The Distance of the Moon". We are promised "stories of starry nights, familial distance, geography as identity, skydiving as romance, and environment as obsession." The reading happens tonight at 7:00 PM at the Uptown Writer's Space (4802 N. Broadway, #200; just above the Green Mill); admission is a suggested donation of $5. Spring Wine "Grand Tasting" @ Sam's Downers Grove

This Sunday from 1-4 PM, Sam's Wines & Spirits is throwing their 2007 Grand Tasting at the Downers Grove location. They'll have dozens of luscious reds and succulent whites representing vineyards from all across the globe. And Sam's always provides and array of wine prices at these events, so whether you arrive by limo or METRA (hey, it's Downers Grove, are you gonna walk?), you should be able to find the perfect wine to fit both your palate and your budget.

Chicago Green Festival @ McCormick Place

Part of the first Earth Month Chicago, this festival features an "eco-mall" with more than 300 exhibits, offering ideas for greener homes, greener food, greener finances, greener wardrobes, and greener careers; as well as more than 150 speakers, including journalists, activists, and entrepreneurs.
