3rd Annual Richard J. Daley Urban Forum

The recently reelected Mayor Richard M. Daley wll make an appearance today at the 3rd Annual Richard J. Daley Urban Forum at UIC: "Citites of the Future". The forum attempts to bring together business leaders and policymakers from around the world to discuss how the cities of the future will be built and they've enlisted the help of Chicago's King, Mayor Daley. It will be held in the Illinois Room at the Student Center East, 750 S. Halsted St. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Oscar-nominated docs @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a program of the four films nominated in the Best Documentary Short category of this year's Oscars: The Blood of Yingzhou District (the winning film); Recycled Life; Rehearsing the Dream; and Two Hands. Celebrate May Day At the Hull House

Celebrate May Day (the day after May Day) at the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum with Haymarket and the Labor Trail A Walking Tour from Hull House to Haymarket, Film Screening, and Discussion (with food!). The Event lasts from 4:00-6:30 P.M., meeting first at the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum Residents' Dining Hall 800 S. Halsted St.. The event is free, but space is limited. "Dirty Dancing" 20th Anniversary Screening

Proving the steel-like endurance and cultural power of teen movies, the 20th anniversary re-release of "Dirty Dancing" will be shown tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the AMC River East 21 (at 322 East Illinois). In addition to the visual treat of mid-career Swayze, you'll also get to see a documentary about the making of the movie, complete with cast interviews. Click here for tickets.

The Partly Dave Show returns

After a three-year hiatus, The Partly Dave Show returns to the stage for an evening of modern cabaret. Founded by Neo-Futurist, Pansy King and blogger Dave Awl in 2003, each show features a mix of musicians and spoken word performers, responding to a different theme for each outing. Tonight's show -- the Party Mix Edition -- is a benefit for the planned podcast version of Partly Dave. Check out favorite performances from past shows plus new material from Christopher Piatt, Diana Slickman (Boy Girl Boy Girl), Jonathan Messinger (Dollar Store), Rachel Claff (Neo-Futurists, Boy Girl Boy Girl), Kurt Heintz (e-Poets.net) and special musical guests Even in Blackouts.
