BANDWIDTH @ Subterranean

Future Perfect Radio and Save Net Radio present another edition of their regular live concert series BANDWIDTH at Subterranean. DIRTY FOUND live show @ Hideout

The editors of DIRTY FOUND, the leering sibling of the much-loved FOUND magazine, present an evening of dirty found entertainment tonight at the Hideout. BeerFest 2007 @ Navy Pier

This Saturday, between celebrating Cinco de Mayo and watching the ponies run, head down to Navy Pier for BeerFest 2007: Beer on the Pier II. 25th Hour @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a retrospective of the work of director Spike Lee. Tonight the Film Center will screen Lee's 25th Hour from 2002. The film will also be screened on Tuesday, May 8, where it will be accompanied by a lecture and discussion from teacher and author Jacqueline Stewart. The film screens tonight at 6:00 PM. Sci-Fi Spectacular @ Music Box

The Music Box Theatre and the Movieside Film Festival present a sci-fi film spectacular at the Music Box. A staggering thirteen hours of science fiction films will be shown today from noon to 3:00 AM. You'll get to see Metropolis, Forbidden Planet (co-star Patricia Neal is scheduled to appear at this event!), The Day The Earth Stood Still, La Jetée, Electronic Labryinth THX 1138 4EB (George Lucas' USC student film), Serenity, Mad Max, and The Terminator. There will also be some classic sci-fi-themed cartoon screened, sci-fi merch tables, a costume contest, vintage movie trailers, and many more surprises. Donate Blood @ Sacred Art

Sacred Art, 2040 W. Roscoe, is hosting its second-annual blood drive from 11 am - 5 pm. Two LifeSource coaches will be parked outside the store from 11 am - 5 pm, and store owner Sarah Chazin hopes to get 80 folks to give of themselves. Hope Springs Infernal opening night @ House Theatre

The smokin' hot House Theatre closes out its well received fourth season with Hope Springs Infernal, an epic about the "world's original superheroes" starring Ares, Athena and the curse of Pandora’s box. The show opens tonight and runs through June 23 at the Viaduct Theatre, 3111 N. Western.

Chicago Craft Mafia: Spring Loaded

The Chicago Craft Mafia and several "friends of the famiglia" present the Spring Loaded indie craft show today. More than 20 vendors will have their latest handcrafted items for sale from 12-5 at Galaxie, 2603 W. Barry. The event also raises money for Rainbow House, a nonprofit group working to reduce domestic violence in Chicago. Handmade stuff and a great cause -- how can you refuse?

Amon Tobin @ Metro

Polymath drum'n'bass DJ, composer, and NinjaTune recording artist Amon Tobin headlines with a DJ set at Metro this evening. He's touring after the recent release of his sixth album, Foley Room. See our Transmission page for further details. The show is presented by WLUW, and Abstract Science DJs Widman and Luke Stokes are also scheduled to spin opening sets. Gumballhead Kick Off Party @ Handlebar

For Cinco de Mayo, you can commemorate the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla and kick off the summer brewing season at Handlebar, with local (Hammond, Indiana) brewery, Three Floyds. According to Three Floyds' event listing, there will be "beer, bands and food." There will no doubt be bike enthusiast hipsters, as well.
