Architecture In Helsinki, Mahjongg @ Logan Square Auditorium

Local heroes with a fervent fanbase, Mahjongg will be previewing material from an upcoming K Records release - it could be your last chance to claim "I was there before" scenester points. Headlining is international noise conflagration Architecture In Helsinki, whose playful multi-instrumental pop is now competing with a whole new generation that's followed fast in the footsteps of their nearly two-year-old breakout album In Case We Die.

Red Chamber @ Lakeshore Theater

Sounding like an Asian go-go take on Ennio Morricone and John Barry, Chicago's Red Chamber have a sound unlike hardly anything else on the city's current music scene. Their latest record, Red Chamber Brings the Mao Sounds, carries listeners to a soundscape best heard decades ago in seedy yet classy joints. Sure to be an energetic performance, Red Chamber plays the Lakeshore Theater with Julie Sokolow and Blake Miller. For more information, visit the Lakeshore online.

Artists' Rally @ Picasso

Tonight at 5:30pm, Chicago artists will rally around the Picasso at the Daley Center to protest an ordinance to privatize the selection of public art, among other things, proposed by Mayor Daley and the Department of Cultural Affairs. Protesters will be carrying blank signs and shouting "Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! Something something has got to go!" to symbolize the silencing of artists' voices. Help keep public art meetings open by lending your support. More info here.
