Fashion designer and Chicago native Cynthia Rowley will be at the Borders at 830 N. Michigan Ave. tonight at 6:30pm to discuss and sign copies of her book, Slim: A Fantasy Memoir.

Movies in the Park: How To Eat Fried Worms @ Kennedy Park

The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight the 2007 schedule continues with a screening of How To Eat Fried Worms. The screening starts tonight at dusk in Kennedy Park (11320 S. Western). The screening is free and open to the public. Theater on the Lake: The Best of Jim Zulevic at the Second City

The Chicago Park District presents Theater on the Lake, a summer-long revival of great theatrical productions from the last year or so. This week's production: Apparently Heaven Can't Wait: The Best of Jim Zulevic at the Second City, a tribute to the late great Second City alumnus. The show plays at the Theater on the Lake theater (Fullerton Avenue at Lake Michigan) Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30 PM (6:30 PM Sunday nights). The Poetics of Cultural Resistance @ Humboldt Park Public Library

The Public Square at the Illinois Humanities Council and the Juan Antonio Corretjer Puerto Rican Cultural Center present this free Know More series event featuring performances by Nuyorican poet/playwright Tato Laviera and "Nueva Trova" singer/songwriter Fernandito Ferrer as well as a community discussion about Puerto Rico and the diaspora. 6 PM, 1605 N Troy. Fred Anderson & Hamid Drake @ Velvet Lounge

Celebrating the release of their new album From The River To The Ocean on Thrill Jockey Records, AACM founder and local jazz legend Fred Anderson and percussionist Hamid Drake will be performing tonight at the Velvet Lounge. Joining them on accompaniment will be Harrison Bankhead, guitarist Jeff Parker, and bassist Josh Abrams, who also played on the new album. Velvet Lounge, 67 E. Cermak. Beethoven and Brahms @ Millennium Park

Stop by one of five Bicycle Commuter Stations during Bike to Work Week, June 9-15, for refreshments, freebees and raffles. Get your bike checked free of charge by a professional mechanic to make sure that it is lubed and ready to go. Hosted by Chicagoland Bicycle Federation in cooperation with the City of Chicago.
