Out of the angular-rock phase that was full throttle a few years ago emerged Maximo Park. Perhaps the most lyrically insightful of the latest wave of post-punk bands, their latest album, Our Earthly Pleasures revolves more around pop music than 2005's A Certain Trigger. Hailing from Newcastle, England, the band has blown up across the Atlantic yet are still finding their legs in the US. (Their last Chicago drew just 30-some people, but there was also a lot of live music competition that night.) For more information, visit Double Door.
