The Rock Hudson and Lauren Bacall film Written on the Wind will be shown tonight as part of the Chicago Outdoor Film Festival, at Butler Field in Grant Park (at the corner of Monroe and Lake Shore Drive). The film starts at 8:42 p.m., weather permitting.

Lush, haunting, gorgeous. Indie rock band Joan as Policewoman is all of these things. Currently touting their newly released album, Real Life, the band makes their Chicago debut tonight at Schuba's. Local folk singer Judson Claiborne opens. Expect a luminous display of musicianship from veteran indie rocker Joan Wasser. She plays the violin, piano, guitar, and she sings, too. Show starts at 9pm. $10
The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screenings: Open Season (PG) at Durkin Park (8445 S. Kolin Ave.); and Take the Lead (PG-13) at Eugene Field Park (5100 N. Ridgeway Ave.). The screenings start tonight at dusk, and are free and open to the public.
