New Media Story Telling Workshop @ HPAC

The Scottish artist, Andrew Gryf Paterson - who lives in Helsinki - will be a visiting artist at the Hyde Park Art Center, 5020 S. Cornell Ave , Tonight at 6pm (Lasting till 8pm). He'll share some of his past works about collecting stories with mobile technologies and social networking tools - skillfully and thoughtfully mixing new media with very old media! The event is part of a series of events for 2 months and is free and open to the public.

No End In Site Screening and Discussion

The Public Square at the Illinois Humanities Council and Landmark's Century Centre Cinema present the Chicago premiere of...NO END IN SIGHT Tonight at 6:30 PM @
Landmark's Century Centre Cinema, 2828 North Clark Street. The event is free and open to the public BUT Reservations are required and can be made online, by e-mail or by calling 312.422.5580. Following the film, there will be a post-screening discussion with Juan Torres of Gold Star Families for Peace and Jeff Leys of Voices for Creative Nonviolence.

Movies in the Park

The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screenings: Charlotte's Web (G) at Midway Plaisance Park (1130 Midway Plaisance North); Over the Hedge (PG) at Galewood Park (5729 W. Bloomingdale Ave.); and Raiders of the Lost Ark (PG) at Winnemac Park (5100 N. Leavitt St.). The screenings start tonight at dusk, and are free and open to the public. Theater on the Lake: Spinning Into Butter

The Chicago Park District presents Theater on the Lake, a summer-long revival of great theatrical productions from the last year or so. This week's production: Spinning Into Butter by the Eclipse Theatre Company. The show plays at the Theater on the Lake theater (Fullerton Avenue at Lake Michigan) Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30 PM (6:30 PM Sunday nights). SummerDance on the Move @ Athletic Field Park

Free Safety Seminar @ Sheil Park

Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) and Ald. Vi Daley (43rd) will hold a free safety seminar for area residents at 6:30 p.m. tonight in Sheil Park, at 3505 N. Southport Ave. in the wake of a series of assaults in the Lakeview neighborhood. Police will give residents tips on protecting themselves, and free pepper spray will be offered.
