Dine Out Chicago, Multiple Locations

San Pellegrino sponsors Dine Out Chicago, where at participating restaurants, $1 is donated to the hunger-eradication organization Share Our Strength for every meal served on select dates. The full list of participating Chicago restaurants is available online here.

Movies in the Park

The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screenings: Gridiron Gang (PG-13) at Kelly Park (2725 W. 41st St.); and The Wizard of Oz (G) at Crescent Park (2230 W. 108th Pl). The screenings start tonight at dusk, and are free and open to the public. For a complete schedule of movies check out the Chicago Park District Website.

True North Underground Railroad Festival

This Saturday and Sunday the Chicago/Calumet Underground Railroad Effort will present the 2nd annual True North Underground Railroad Festival. There will be performances about Chicago's ties to Underground Railroad history by Theaster Gates, the HHW High School for the Performing Arts singers, & many more. There will also be walking and ecology tours of the Calumet area and soul food from Helen's Restaurant. The festivities occur from 12-9pm Saturday the 18th and 12-5pm Sunday the 19th. Everything happens at Carver Park (900 block of 134th Street at Ellis) and a $5 donation is encouraged. For more info or to volunteer

Slow Food High Tea at Angel Food Bakery

Seedling Orchard and Slow Food Chicago team up for afternoon tea at Angel Food Bakery, 1636 W. Montrose. Angel Food's chef Stephanie Samuels will turn stone fruits into treats paired with tea. The menu includes roasted peach "crackers," plum chutney "bruschetta" served on a shortcake round, stone fruit crumble bars, and plum and almond tartlets. Tea begind at 3:00. Practice extending your pinkies now.

Logan Square Farmers Market

The Logan Square Farmers Market takes place every Sunday until October 28. The market is held at the corner of Logan, Milwaukee and Kedzie from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
