If you didn't get tickets for the Hideout Block Party or are just sick of the whole summer festival Porto-potty scene and are just wanting to kick it in a club and get whelmed by some killer music, then this is the show to go to Saturday night. Silver Apples headline, and while it's unclear what they've done recently, they're still the world's foremost wtf proto-psyche/electronic/prog/outsider regenerated dinsosaur act what's still drawing breath. The ones to seek out here, however, are Warhammer 48K -- who originally hail from Columbus, MI and are briefly calling Chicago home base as they do a limited number of shows around town while they do so. Their recent album on Permanent Record is a must-hear. If you're unfamiliar, prepare to be challenged and rewarded. The Moon Upsatirs and Skarekrau Radio open. 1035 N. Comedian and solo performer Ian Belknap will write and perform a new comedy show each night of this Rhinoceros Theater Festival event. And he'll have a fresh crop of guest stars each night to help him make the funny using sketch, improv, monologue, and stand-up -- whatever it takes to make you laugh, man. The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screening: Happy Feet (PG) at Wicker Park (1425 N. Not content with the city's various farmers markets, the Southport Grocery and Cafe (1420 West Grace St.) will host several "Green Market" Saturdays over the summer and into the fall. In addition to showcasing locally grown vegetables, they'll up the ante with everything from flowers to baby food to artisan breads and cheeses on display from local growers and producers. The Edgewater Farmers Market takes place every Saturday until October 20 from 7 a.m. to noon at the corner of Broadway and Norwood (on the corner of True Nature Foods).
Taste over 250 wines at this year's festival, held at Daley Bicentennial Plaza in Grant Park. In addition to tastings, wine seminars, cooking demonstrations, live music and food from restaurants such as Rosebud and Sullivan's Steakhouse will be offered.
