Dignity Waits

Dignity Waits, the solo show by Jamie Buell, winner of the first season of the acclaimed Impress These Apes contest earlier this year, will be performed tonight at 8:00 p.m. at the the Playground Theater, 3208 N. Halsted Street, and will be running each Monday through October 1.

Gapers Block Book Club Meeting

This month's meeting of the Gapers Block Book Club takes place tonight at The Book Cellar at 4736 N. Lincoln Ave., where we will be discussing Peel My Love Like an Onion by Ana Castillo. Hot indie publishing superguy Joe Meno reads from his freshly re-edited debut novel, Tender as Hellfire, a "near-fantastical world of floozies, broken-down Impalas, lost glass eyes, and the experiences of two boys trying to find sense in their random lives." May or May Not Practice Space Residency @ Schubas

Local indie-pop group May Or May Not celebrates the release of its sophomore full-length, A Kaleidoscope Of Egos, with a month-long residency at Schubas. The band promises to pull out all the stops during these shows, while previewing material from Egos -- which runs the gamut from New Pornographers-inspired indie-rock to the psychedelic pop of Panda Bear's Person Pitch. Eagle Seagull and Solid Gold open the show. $6. 9pm.
