Helvetica @ Film Center

Back by popular demand! Helvetica, the documentary about the font's 50th anniversary, hauls its sans-serif self back to the Gene Siskel Film Center for another week-long engagement. The movie broke the Film Center's box office records during its initial run in June, so if you didn't catch it then, you've got another chance. It could be just your type of movie! Ha! Runs through September 27.

Estrojam 2007

The Estrojam Music and Culture Festival celebrates its fifth year with six days of music, art, workshops, and film at various locations around the city. ESG, Bahamadia, Yo Majesty, Psalm One, Rita J, and Brandy Dew take the stage tonight, followed by an afterparty with Nicky Click and AKA Chicago. Show starts at 9:00 at the Abbey Pub, 3420 W. Grace. Ian's Dog and Pony Show

Comedian and solo performer Ian Belknap will write and perform a new comedy show each night of this Rhinoceros Theater Festival event. And he'll have a fresh crop of guest stars each night to help him make the funny using sketch, improv, monologue, and stand-up -- whatever it takes to make you laugh, man. Movies in the Park: Happy Feet

The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screening: Happy Feet (PG) at Touhy Park (7348 N. Street Art Show, Wicker Park

This Friday, local street artist Artillery launches his latest art at New'd, a Wicker Park clothing shop. His work will be up through October, but you can join him tonight from 7 pm to 11 pm for free beer and music. New'd is located at 1917 W. Division. Plus, you can get 30% off any article of clothing during the opening.

Appetite Theatre's 4th Annual Bruschetta Festival Opens

This year's Bruschetta: Comedy and controversy in bite-sized pieces, features 6 new short plays chosen from over 460 submissions. Bonde do Role @ Empty Bottle

Brazil's Bonde do Role (named after a candy store) was discovered by Diplo and typically described as modern baile funk, which is basically Brazilian funk music. But the trio incorporates so much more - metal riffs, African drum styles, what the rest of the world refers to as funk, etc. They'll visit Chicago in support of their debut album, With Lasers.
