Movies in the Park: Gridiron Gang

The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screening: Gridiron Gang (PG-13) at Davis Square Park (4430 S. Marshfield Ave.). The screening starts tonight at dusk, and is free and open to the public. What Is Fair? Genetics and Public Policy @ DuSable Museum of African American History

The Illinois Humanities Council's series, Future Perfect: Conversations on the Meaning of the Genetics Revolution, closes with this panel that focuses on fairness: "how can we ensure that the fruits of this research will be accessible to all?" Tonight's program includes a screening of excerpts from Kartemquin Films' new documentary, Terra Incognita: The Promise and Perils of Stem Cell Research. In the Illinois Black Legislators Auditorium, 740 E 56th Place (enter on 57th Street). The program runs from 6 PM to 8 PM, but if you arrive early (after 5 PM), you can take a look at the DuSable Museum's exhibit, "From Dreams to Determination: The Legacy of Doctors Percy and Anna Julian," about an important chemist and his wife, who was also an activist. W. Anderson's Hotel Chevalier Screening @ Apple Store

Wes Anderson's Hotel Chevalier, a short film "prequel" to his upcoming Darjeeling Limited, will make its debut at Apple stores across the country tonight, including the Michigan Avenue location. Join screenwriter Roman Coppola at 9pm for the premier, and ask him questions afterward. Free.

Delilah's Pumpkin Beer Festival

Delilah's, 2771 N. Lincoln, turns into a pumpkin patch tonight from 6pm to 9pm. Sample more than a dozen different pumpkin and Oktoberfest beers for a dollar a 2oz. sample or $20 for a taste of all of them. (All the beers will also be available in bottles or pints.) 21 and over, obviously.

Tuesdays on the Terrace @ MCA

Kick back at the Museum of Contemporary Art after work. Check out the farmer's market out front (it closes by 6 PM), wander through the exhibits (MCA admission is free Tuesdays), and conclude your evening lounging on the terrace, listening to jazz (the concert starts at 5:30 PM) and enjoying one of the best views in Chicago. Marissa Nadler, Clientele, Peter, Bjorn, & John @ Riviera Theatre

Dark folkster Marissa Nadler plays her brand of haunting Emmylou meets Vashti glum tunes in support of her latest LP Songs III:Bird on the Water. Shoegaze a la The Monkees blissfully describes The Clientele's most recent offering on Merge Records from which, no doubt, they will play selections this evening. Everyone's favorite over-played Swedish group with that delicious "I packed my school lunch" acronym, Peter, Bjorn, and John, headline and play Chicago again in what might be a record for most shows in Chicago by a Swedish band in a 3 month period. Metric @ Metro

Canadian group Metric come down to the Metro tonight for a 7:30pm show along with Crystal Castles and The Virgins. Read more about what to expect in Transmission. Tickets are $15, and it's all ages, which means you'll be home in time for Conan. Doors open at 6:30pm. The Metro is located at 3730 N. Clark St.

The Chi-Town Daily News is hosting a writer's meeting and journalism workshop on becoming a citizen journalist to get you started writing about your neighborhood. Death by Roo Roo @ Lakeshore Theater

"You F-ed Up Family," a performance by the improv group Death by Roo Roo, plays at the Lakeshore Theater tonight as part of the Upright Citizens Brigade-hosted weekly series. Performances are at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.
