Adventures in Modern Music @ Empty Bottle

The Empty Bottle and The Wire present the fifth annual Adventures in Modern Music, a five-day festival of unusual music. The concert series continues tonight with performances by Deerhunter, Daniel Carter with Michael Reed and Ben Vida, No Age and Sin Ropas. Banned Books Read Out

It's the 26th Annual Banned Books Week and the American Library Association, Newberry Library and McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum are celebrating the freedom to read with a Banned Books Read Out at Pioneer Plaza. Join authors Chris Crutcher, Carolyn Mackler, Robie Harris and other local celebrities to hear them read passages from their favorite banned and challenged books. 50 Minute Macbeth @ Newberry Library

The Shakespeare Project presents a shortened version of the Scottish play, adapated for a three-actor cast. Adapted and directed by Mara Polster, featuring Nathan M. Hosner and Laura St. John. Emergency Chicagoland Commodore Convention

Commodore 64 fans unite! The Emergency Chicagoland Commodore Convention happens today at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Lombard (645 West North Avenue). If you're still rocking the 8-bit console, this is the place for you. Hardware dealers, users groups, hardware hacking tips -- if it's 64-related, it'll be there.
