New Year's Day 5k Run & Walk
Shake off that hangover and kick off the start of Non-Smoking Life in Chicago with a New Year's Day 5K Run & Walk today, 11 a.m., in Lincoln Park (Stockton and LaSalle Drives). It's the first official 5K of 2008 and will include a post-race gathering at Gamekeepers, 345 W. Armitage, with trophies and raffle prizes.
Polar Bear Club's New Year's Day Swim
The local chapter of the Polar Bear Club will meet today at North Avenue Beach (1600 N. Lake Shore Drive) at noon for their annual New Year's Day dip in Lake Michigan. Swimsuits required' no naked swims or wetsuits. For more information about the event contact leesaruns (at) aol (dot) com.
