☛ GB GET-TOGETHER Friday, August 29, 8-11pm ✧ Drinks & conversation at the Clark Street Ale House, 742 N. Clark! More details »
Let's look at the ups and downs here: Tuesday is rent day, but it's also one notable step closer to spring. It's a Monday night, but the tunes pretty much make it impossible for you to get rowdy drunk. Jens Lekman may borrow a tune here or there, but they're all very pretty. And you've never heard of the Honeydrips, but they'll play you some of the best twee-rockin' tunes that will ever grace romantic comedies of the future. So all in all, you could go either way, but I bet if you want to make googly eyes at the cutest, shyest, singlest person of the other sex you've ever imagined from your cozy, nerdy bedroom, tonight would be the night to do so. Show starts at 8:30, tickets are $14.
A two-act, multi-discipline, live on-stage performance that spotlights energetic dialogue between visual art and modern dance. Benno Hubner dances in front of a large screen on which the paintings of Tali Farchi are projected, even as they are being created live. The connection between the two disciplines develops a conversation that is playful, passionate and at times intimate, with music that ranges from classical to hip hop. After a brief intermission, a rotating line up of jazz musicians are invited for a session of total improvisation where just about anything can happen and very often does. Daniel Godston, Steve Cohn, Yuganaut, and painter Royce Deans join. $15. 8 p.m. 3435 N. Sheffield. Visit the Website.
