The Liverpudlian quartet Clinic are in town to play two sets of their minimalist garage-pop at the Bottle this evening, touring to support their recently-released fifth album, Do It! The evening will feature a rollover of two shows -- the first starting at 7 PM, the second starting at 10 PM. Shearwater opens for both billings. Anthem Idol @ ESPN Zone

If Roseanne can do it, anyone can, right? Put your money where your mouth is and audition for "Anthem Idol" for a chance to sing the national anthem before a White Sox game. The sing-off begins Monday, May 12, 6 p.m. at ESPN Zone, 43 E. Ohio St. Contestants will sing 30 seconds of any song (except the national anthem) after which the judges will whittle the field down to five. Fans will vote for the eventual winner. Although registration ended May 7, walk-in contestants will be accepted on the basis of availability. Here's a tip: memorize the words.

San Diego Padres vs. Cubs @ Wrigley Field

The Padres are mired in last place in the National League West, which means it's as good a time as any for the Cubs to fatten up that record. Monday's game at Wrigley Field, 1060 W. Addison, begins at 7:05 p.m., followed by games on Tuesday (7:05 p.m.), Wednesday (7:05 p.m.) and Thursday (1:20 p.m.)
