The second annual Pizza Fest begins today at the corner of Fullerton and Racine from noon to 10pm. Contests judged by local chefs, live music, and lots of the cheesy stuff will be available. Fest also runs Sunday, same times. The event is sponsored by the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce.
The Anti-Advertising Agency presents I'm Doing This To Win Your Heart, a film festival of anti-corporate films, at The Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia). Doors open at 7:00 PM, admission is $7, and proceeds benefit the AAA's Foundation for Freedom and submedia.tv.
The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a month-long showing of film noir films from the 20th Century Fox archives. Tonight's film is Road House from 1948, with Richard Widmark and Ida Lupino. "Freeze," an installation by artist Adam Farcus, is the first show at Second Bedroom, a new art space within Apartment 4R at 3216 Morgan St., Apt. 4R. The exhibitions opens tonight with a reception from 7pm to 11pm, and runs through July 20th.

The June Jamboree will help Literacy Works, a non-profit organization that offers support to literacy agencies in more than 30 communities throughout the Chicago area, raise much-needed funds to support its work in advancing adult and family literacy. The evening is packed with fun for the entire family, including live music by the Northside Southpaws, plus Henna tattoos, a caricature artist, food and a silent auction. Tickets are $25.00 for adults if purchased in advance, or $30.00 at the door. Children 12 and under are $5.00. Why care about California? Well, it set the model for what this city knows as its farmers markets. Join the Culinary Historians of Chicago and author Amelia Saltsman, author of “The Santa Monica Farmers’ Market Cookbook” from 10 to noon today at the Chicago History Museum (1600 N. Lauren Anderson, Oli Watt, and Ingrid Watt present Sausagefest at Old Gold, 2022 N. Humboldt Blvd., basement entrance, starting at 4pm. It's all the sausages and sauerkraut you can eat for $5 a plate and all the beer you can drink -- in an official Sausagefest stein -- for $5 a stein. The space will be transformed into a German brauhaus, and Oli's coaster collection will be on display.
Head to the Green City Market for cooking demonstrations (from the Spatulatta Girls, among others), a Sushi Skool, chef-hat decorating and lots of food samples to celebrate the start of Kids' Restaurant Week. Demos start at 9:30 am. The market is located at the south end of Lincoln Park, between Clark Street and Stockton Drive.
This Saturday, June 21, you can wash your pet of both grime and sin. Lake Street Youth, part of the Lake Street Church of Evanston, will be holding a pet wash and blessing from 1 to 3pm at the corner of Lake and Chicago in Evanston. Although only dogs and cats will be washed, all animals can receive a blessing. All proceeds go to fund a trip the Lake Street Youth are taking to New Orleans this summer.

The Tour de Fat, a bike event sponsored by New Belgium Brewery (makers of Fat Tire), hits Palmer Square Park, at the corner of Palmer and Kedzie, for a day of bike craziness ranging from a bike parade to a "slow ride" competition and a bunch of bands -- see the schedule for full details. The event is free, but it's a fundraiser, so bring some cash.
