The Illinois Artisan's Shop presents the Ethnic Arts Bazaar, featuring the work of a dozen Illinois artists. Today and tomorrow from 10am to 3:30pm in the James R. Thompson Center Atrium, 100 W. Randolph St.
Chefs Sarah Stegner and George Bumbaris of the Prairie Grass Cafe will hold a tomato tasting today at 9:30 am at the Green City Market. The same event will be taking place at the Ritz-Carlton dining room with Mark Payne also at 9:30am.
Chef Dean Zanella of 312 Chicago will be giving a cooking demo today at 10:30am at the Green City Market located at Clark and LaSalle.
Slow Food Chicago is holding a potluck tonight from 6-7:30pm at the Garden of Eatin' at Dawes Elementary School (440 Dodge Ave, Evanston). Bring a side dish to serve 10 people, along with your own plates, utensils, and beverage (no alcohol). Desserts will be provided. RSVP required.
Head to the Diversey Mini Golf Course, 141 W. Diversey in Lincoln Park, tonight from 6pm to 8pm for the second annual Mini Golf, Big Change, a miniature golf outing to benefit Crossroads Fund. Improve your short game while snacking on pizza and soft drinks, and compete for fabulous prizes. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
Head to Smart Bar, 3730 N. Clark St., tonight from 7pm to 11pm for the Rock for Kids Music Mixer, a silent auction of mix CDs created by a wide range of musicians, club owners, DJs, journalists and others from Chicago's music scene. (That includes a big set of mixes from the staff of Transmission.) It's $5 to get in, and the mixes start at $20. 21 and over.
