Andersonville Arts Weekend

Andersonville Arts Weekend kicks off tonight from 6pm to 10pm with the "night of 100 pARTies," ranging from art exhibits at local shops and galleries to performances by the Pegasus Players, Theater Ooblek and the Neo-Futurists. The galleries are free; the plays are cheap -- see the site for details.

Craig Taborn @ Elastic

Craig Taborn is one of jazz's most versatile and intriguing pianists playing today. His recent appearance on the cover of Downbeat magazine might lead you to believe he'd more likely be playing the Symphony Center than an intimate gallery space above a Chinese restaurant, but that's all the more reason to come see him play Elastic. Appearing with ubiquitous bassist Josh Abrams and drummer Mike Reed, they will reprise a trio that played two incredible shows last year at the Velvet Lounge, displaying synergistic improvised alchemy. The band has dubbed themselves Tareab, and they will be the headliners of a show that features several openers, including Tom Abbs, Karl E.H. Sigfried, and Chicago Phonography. $10 suggested donation, 7 PM, Elastic 2830 N Milwaukee, 2nd Fl, 773.772.3616 for more info.

The Interview Show @ Hideout

Mark Bazer's Interview Show returns to the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia, tonight at 6:30pm. This month's guests include "Top Chef" winner Stephanie Izard, author Kevin Davis and stand-up comic Hannibal Buress, and features performances by Buress and Jeff Dorchen of Theater Oobleck. $5 at the door. 21+

Headlights

The story of Headlights' new album starts in an old, two-story farmhouse just outside of Champaign, IL. Nestled between corn and soybean fields, and within view of encroaching industry -- a freight train line, a FedEx plant, and the local mall visible from the 2nd floor window -- this farmhouse was the site where the band wrote and recorded its sophomore full length album, Some Racing, Some Stopping.
