Deathscribe: Radio Plays @ Music Box

The Music Box Theatre hosts an evening of radio plays performed by Wildclaw Theatre. Deathscribe: Ten Minutes of Terror Radio Play Festival will feature five short plays performed live in the style of old-time radio shows, with live sound effects and everything. The evening kicks off tonight at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and can be purchased at the Wildclaw Website. Music Box: 3733 N. Southport.

Free Human Rights Watch Film Screening

Please join the Human Rights Watch Chicago Network for a free screening of Errol Morris' new documentary Standard Operating Procedure. Participant Media is providing catering for the event, and guests will be invited to participate in a live post-show Web-cast with Errol Morris and Farnoosh Hashemian, author of Broken Laws, Broken Lives.

The Right Stuff @ Steppenwolf

Join the actors from Steppenwolf Theatre for a dramatic reading of selections from Tom Wolfe's The Right Stuff, the current One Book, One Chicago selection. Archival footage from NASA also will be used to show how the media covered the launches of Project Mercury. The event is free from 7pm-8:30pm in the Steppenwolf Upstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Deconstructing Tyrone @ Woodson Regional Library

Author Natalie Y. Moore comes to the Woodson Regional Library for a discussion of her new work Deconstructing Tyrone: A New Look at Black Masculinity in the Hip-Hop Generation. In this book, "Tyrone" is the black man seen by the media, through stereotypes and through the eyes of black women, allowing Moore and co-author Natalie Hopkinson to examine black masculinity through a variety of perspectives.
