The Poseidon Adventure @ Music Box Theatre

The Music Box Theatre and Hell In A Handbag Productions present a special late night screening of that 1970's camp classic The Poseidon Adventure. And since the film features a New Year's Eve celebration, the screening will be timed so that the film actors and theater patrons celebrate the new year at the same time. The show starts at 11pm tonight; the tickets are $20 in advance ($25 at the door) and include a complimentary champagne toast. Too Much Light New Year's Eve Show

The Neo-Futurists present their annual New Year's Eve show at the Neo-Futurarium (5153 N. Ashland, at Foster). Doors open at 9:30pm for food & drinks, and at 11pm they begin an all-ages performance of their long-running show Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind, which finishes exactly at midnight. Future Rock, Daedelus & Dark Party @ The Abbey

Local electronic rockers Future Rock play at the Abbey tonight, heading the bill of the venue's New Years Eve party. Also scheduled to perform are L.A. avant-electronica artist Daedelus and Dark Party (featuring Elliot Lipp). Doors open at 8, show's at 9, and the admission is $25 in advance, $30 the day of. 3420 W. The Sea & Cake @ Schubas

The Sea and Cake have been a staple of the Chicago music scene since 1993, but their latest album, Car Alarm, is their best yet. Ring in the New Year with them tonight at Schubas. They are also highlighted in Transmission's NYE feature. 3159 N. Southport. Show starts at 10pm. 21 & up. Tickets are $40. Drink specials include: $3 Bud Light Drafts, $4 Titos Vodka cocktails, $4 Jim Beam cocktails and a champagne toast at midnight.

**Get your celebration started early with a private event in the bar before the show from 7:30-9:30pm. Tickets are $30 ($35 at the door) and include drinks and appetizers.

Local H @ Bottom Lounge

They found mainstream success with "Bound For The Floor," but that's not all alternative rock band Local H are known for. Tonight they play their annual Chicago New Year's show at Bottom Lounge. Fellow local bands Sybris and OFFICE open. The music starts at 8pm. 1375 W. Lake St. (21 & up.) Tickets are $35. Get a little more in Transmission.

The Dandy Warhols @ Metro

Pop rock favorites The Dandy Warhols rock into the new year at the Metro tonight. More details in our NYE feature in Transmission. The show starts at 9pm. 3730 N. Clark St. (18 & over.) Tickets are $55 in advance ($65 day of). VIP Tables are available for $500.

Revolution Number 9 @ Congress Theater

French dance DJs Justice do it up tonight at Congress Theater to welcome the new year. Joining them are So Me, Peanut Butter Wolf, Hey Champ, and a ton of other late-night Chicago DJs. Check out our NYE feature in Transmission for the whole lineup. The party starts at 7pm. 2135 N. Milwaukee Ave. 17 & up. Tickets are $60 ($200 for VIP).
