Ingebrigt HÃ¥ker Flaten @ The Hungry Brain

Norwegian bassist Ingebrigt Haaker Flaten returns to Chicago to reunite with some old improvised jazz friends. Tonight he plays with Dave Rempis and Frank Rosaly at The Hungry Brain. 2319 W. Belmont. 10pm. 773-935-2118.

Bird Names @ The Skylark

If you've caught Bird Names around town lately, it appears that they've already had a whole new batch of new tunes since their 2008 album Open Relationship. Sure enough, turns out it's time for another record-release party, which the band will be throwing tonight at The Skylark. The new album, entitled Bird Names Sings The Browns, is the result of what happened when the group "bought a new half-inch tape machine, set up a street level studio in their house in Pilsen, and set to intuition for 6 weeks. The album came out drugged, nuanced, catchy and true to the late-2000s they have known." The party gets started at 9:30pm, admission is free, and the Columbia, MO outfit Jerusalem & The Starbaskets open. 2149 S. Halsted.

Lynn Litwin Trunk Show @ The Left Bank

Attention all spring brides: stop by The Left Bank (1155 W. Webster Avenue) today and pick up your "something new"! They will be hosting a Lynn Litwin jewelry trunk show from 11am until 5pm. There will be complimentary champagne and chocolate. Call 773-929-7422 for details and more information.

Hop Around the Shops @ Southport Avenue

Visit Southport Avenue this Sunday April 5th from noon to 3pm and shop participating stores to raise awareness about the Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation and its mission to find homes for abandoned dogs. Ciao Bella (3829 N. Southport Ave.; 773-388-2201), Candyality Julius Meinl (3601 N. Southport Ave.; 773-868-1857), Dog-a-holics (3608 N. Southport Ave.; 773-857-7600), and M2 Boutique (3527 N. Southport Ave.; 773-248-9866) will participate with storewide discounts and giveaways. There will also be 1,000 Easter eggs filled with goodies hidden among the neighborhood, plenty of adoptable dogs to meet, and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

The Ting Tings @ Metro

The pop pair The Ting Tings play in Chicago tonight at the Metro. You probably know their song "Shut Up and Let Me Go" from the April '08 Apple iPod campaigain featuring silhoutted dancers. Their other hits include "Great DJ" and "That's Not My Name" from their album We Started Nothing. Show starts at 7:30pm. Hot Tub will open. All Ages. Sold Out.

Final Performance! Livewire Theatre's "Wonder of the World" @ The Side Project

Livewire Theatre performs its Jeff Recommended version of Wonder of the World by David Linsday Abaire.

From The Onion: "The story follows thirtysomething Cass as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery after making a shocking discovery in her husband's sweater drawer. She ends up in Niagara Falls, and the zany events that follow include encounters with bickering detectives, a suicidal alcoholic, a lonely tourboat captain, and an enormous jar of peanut butter."

From metromix.com: "...this show is hilarious! Laugh out loud, things should be coming out of your nose funny."
