Veggie U Benefit @ Lockwood

Join Lockwood Chef Phillip Foss for a benefit dinner for The Chef's Garden, an Ohio-based project promoting sustainability education for elementary students (aka Veggie U) tonight from 6-9pm at Lockwood, 17 E. Monroe. Tickets $95.

Mango Street Revisited @ DePaul

Joining with the Chicago Public Library's One Book, One Chicago program, DePaul University is offering a lecture led by Associate Professor in History Juan Mora-Torres titled Mango Street Revisited - Youth, the Community/Barrio, and Immigration in Mexican Chicago. Mora-Torres will look at the spring of 206 when over a million people marched to demand civil rights for immigrants in Chicago and explores connections to the themes in Cisneros's The House on Mango Street. Re-Thinking Soup @ Hull House

Soup and discussion about the topics of the day are on the menu at Hull-House Kitchen's Re-thinking Soup series. Today (and every Tuesday) from 12-1:30pm at the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum Residents' Dining Hall (800 South Halsted) come in for a hearty meal and a chat.
