Having made a brief U.S. trip to play at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, leading German techno artist Ellen Allien found time to sneak in an appearance here in the Windy City. While in the past she's proved something of a stylistic polymath in the area of electronic dance music, 2008's Sool found her narrowing her focus to create stark minimal tracks draped with subtle sonic textures. She'll be spinning the headlining set at Sonotheque this evening. DJs LEO123 (of Dark Party association), Mux Mool, and Andrew Kevins get the party started. Doors open at 9pm, and admission is $15. 1444 West Chicago.
Influential German electronic music producer Wolfgang Voigt gives a special free concert at the Chicago Cultural Center this evening, an event which will involve a 90-minute performance and presentation with some added assistance from artist Petra Hollenbach.
