How to Boil Water

All chefs have to start somewhere, so if you don't know how to cook (and are afraid to admit it), this class is for you. Jonathan Chase, Catering Sous Chef at Fox & Obel (401 E. Illinois), will teach you some basic recipes that will help you find your way around the kitchen. You'll get to take home recipes and get a 10% discount at the store. It runs from 6-7:30pm, costs $25, and you can register online or call 312-410-7301.

Edible Audible Picnic: Funk Record Party

Edible Audible Picnic is a better way to spend your lunch hour. This series features cutting edge rock bands, sound artists, audio documentaries, expert DJs, electronic musicians and more. This week Chicago DJ's Rob Sevier and Courtland Green unearth their collection of dusty, rare, and forgotten soul grooves. Green (The Supreme Court) is a founding member of Sheer Magic, the crew responsible for the worlds longest running hard soul and funk night, known simply as "The Soul Party". Sevier is owner and founder of The Numero Group, a Chicago based record label that re-releases obscure funk, soul and R&B records. All events take place at Millennium Park's Jay Pritzker Pavilion on Mondays at noon. Free.

The Sea & Cake @ Millennium Park

Their newest album, "Car Alarm" is brimming with a live energy, and captures the band at their finest. The Dirty Projectors are also on the bill. Show starts at 6:30pm.

Beer and Cheese @ Hopleaf
