Laurie's Planet of Sound is hosting a party to celebrate the release of Wilco's latest album, which drops at midnight. The fun starts at 9pm at The Hideout (1354 W. Noted author and educator Henry Louis Gates, Jr., (Lincoln on Race and Slavery, Loose Canons) comes to the Harold Washington Library for a discussion with author and journalist Rick Kogan (A Chicago Tavern, Sidewalks) on "Our Histories, Our Stories," a look at how the way we tell stories shapes our history and vice versa. Edible Audible Picnic is a better way to spend your lunch hour. This series features cutting edge rock bands, sound artists, audio documentaries, expert DJs, electronic musicians and more. This week Black Moth Super Rainbow delivers a live performance filled with sticky, off-kilter melodies and eccentric visuals. Their latest album features dense layers of complex orchestration, intense rhythmic drumming, thick, undulating bass tones and vocoder vocals that are anything but robotic. All events take place at Millenium Park's Jay Pritzker Pavilion on Mondays at noon. Free.
