Facets Night School: Ivan the Terrible Part 1

Facets Multimedia presents the second session of Facets Night School, midnight screenings of classic and cult movies with discussions about each film. Tonight's film is Sergei Eisenstein's historical epic Ivan the Terrible Part 1. Facets' Brian Elza will lead a post-screening discussion. The movie screens tonight at midnight, and tickets are only $5 (available through Ticketweb). Facets: 1517 W. Fullerton.

Kuma's Corner Fourth Anniversary Party

Kuma's Corner (2900 W. Belmont) is celebrating their Fourth Anniversary by throwing a Block Party. In addition to free food and fun, the band CLUTCH (namesake of Kuma's 4 cheese burger) will be playing live. More information can be found at Kuma's website and at the event's Facebook site.

New Belgium Tour de Fat @ Palmer Square

The Tour de Fat returns! Bikes, music, bikes, beer, bikes, and fun converge upon Palmer Square (2118 N. Kedzie Blvd.) from 9am to 4pm. Sponsored by New Belgium Brewery, the event will feature lots of the company's products and a "I want to trade my car for a bike!" contest. The event also benefits West Town Bikes.

Shroomin' with City Provisions

City Provisions is back again with another farm dinner. What begins as a group of strangers gathered at our space, turns into a group of colleagues hanging out by a bonfire.

This month is an especially unique farm dinner that will teach you about the inner workings of River Valley's mushroom farm. In addition to using their mushrooms, the wonderful selection of produce from River Valley's farm will also be used. So vegetarians celebrate! This is a dinner for you.

Second City/Third Person @ Book Cellar

This fairly new reading series focus on third person stories written by local (hence the Second City) authors. Library Juice Press @ Quimby's

Rory Litwin of Library Juice Press will be at Quimby's to discuss topics pertinent to librarians and all lovers of libraries. The press publishes books such as So You Want to Be a Librarian and Barbarians at the Gates of the Public Library: How Postmodern Consumer Capitalism Threatens Democracy, Civil Education and the Public Good. Folk & Roots Festival @ Welles Park

The 12th annual Folk & Roots Festival, put on by the Old Town School of Folk Music, happens today and tomorrow at Welles Park (Lincoln and Montrose). The festival runs from noon to 9:30pm on both days, and will feature live music, dance lessons, various activities and plenty of food & drink vendors. Alefest @ Soldier Field

Alefest tours through Chicago today, landing on Soldier Field's Stadium Green.
