Disco Demolition Photos @ Music Garage

The Chicago Reader present an exhibition of photos from Disco Demolition Night by photographer Diane Alexander White. The exhibition happens tonight from 5pm to 8pm at the Music Garage (345 N. Loomis) with musical entertainment provided by Diane's kids: Miss Alex White and her brother Francis, who perform as White Mystery.

Paul Buhle @ Alternative Press Center

Paul Buhle's most recent work includes editing the comic adaptation of Studs Terkel's Working. Tonight he joins Quimby's for a discussion and celebration of his work at the Alternative Press Center, a nonprofit periodicals library that "promotes access to independent and critical sources of news and information." Bastille Day Celebration @ Pops For Champagne

Pops For Champagne (601 N. State St.) uncorks some fine bubbly in honor of the French national holiday. $35 gets you food and unlimited French sparkling wine in their courtyard from 3-8pm. The Back Page Release Party @ Pritzker Park

Come celebrate the publication of The Back Page, written by the Editor and Publisher of Booklist Bill Ott. Ott will be interviewed on stage by Frank Sennett, Editor-in-Chief of Time Out Chicago and will sign copies of the book (books will be on sale for a discounted price). Free from 5pm-7pm at Pritzker Park, just north of the Harold Washington Library at State and Van Buren.

Folk & Roots Festival @ Welles Park

The 12th annual Folk & Roots Festival, put on by the Old Town School of Folk Music, happens Saturday and Sunday at Welles Park (Lincoln and Montrose). The festival runs from noon to 9:30pm on both days, and will feature live music, dance lessons, various activities and plenty of food & drink vendors. Admission is an $8 donation, or $4 for children and seniors. See the Folk & Roots Website for a full schedule.

Great Lakes Brewing Beer Dinner @ The Publican

This month's beer dinner at The Publican features brews from Cleveland's Great Lakes Brewing Company. The event includes a four-course dinner for $45. Beer pairings are an additional $15-20. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made by calling (312) 733-9555.
