Facets Night School: Wild Style

Facets Multimedia presents the second session of Facets Night School, midnight screenings of classic and cult movies with discussions about each film. Tonight's film is the classic 1982 hip-hop movie Wild Style. Facets employee Jason Makman will lead a post-screening discussion of the film. The movie screens tonight at midnight, and tickets are only $5 (available through Ticketweb). Facets: 1517 W. Fullerton.

Pitchfork Music Festival @ Union Park

The mammoth three day indie rock music festival returns to Union Park this weekend. Some of the acts on Saturday's bill are The National, Beirut, Doom, Yeasayer, The Black Lips, Matt & Kim, The Pains of Being at Heart, and many more.

Tickets are currently only available for Friday night, but try your luck at Craigslist to find 3-day passes and tickets for today and Sunday. Friday night tickets are $35.

Union Park is located at 1501 West Randolph at the corner of Ashland and Lake. Doors open Friday night at 4pm, and Saturday and Sunday at noon. There is no re-entry at the festival.

West Loop Gallery Tour

The Art Dealers Association of Chicago, composed of fine art dealerships ranging from the antique to the avant-garde, has added a second round of galleries to their weekly Saturday tours in River North. Beginning tonight and taking place every 6-8 weeks, the ADAC will take groups through the burgeoning West Loop art community. Stops on the tour include Peter Miller Gallery, Andrew Rafacz Gallery, Carrie Secrist Gallery, and McCormick Gallery. Steven Soderbergh's Out of Sight @ Film Center

Steven Soderbergh's King of the Hill @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a screening of the little-known but critically acclaimed Steven Soderbergh film from 1993, King of the Hill, with Spalding Gray, Karen Allen, and a young Adrien Brody. Culinary Curiosity Tour @ Kendall College

Join the Chicago Foodways Roundtable as they tour a new exhibit at Kendall College that shows off antique food production devices. You'll be joined by the exhibit's curator (nice bonus). Science Saturday

Today Science Chicago hosts a number of science-related tours in and around the city. Learn about plants, geocaching, biorobotics, imaging, and more. Extreme Volleyball Professionals @ North Ave. Beach

The 2009 EVP Pro Tour is coming to Chicago this weekend. Saturday, July 18, at North Avenue Beach, top players and teams from around the country will be competing for cash prizes. The festivities begin early, 7 a.m., and continue throughout the day, ending with a post-tournament party at Mickey's Bar & Patio from 8 p.m. until people want to leave.

A little addition to the tournament will be an exhibition for Beach Tennis USA (BTUSA). From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., BTUSA will have open play and training clinics to show Chicagoans more about this emerging sport.
