Pitchfork Music Festival @ Union Park

The mammoth three day indie rock music festival returns to Union Park this weekend. The festival closes tonight with headliners The Flaming Lips, who will be playing a set chosen by ticket holders. Other acts playing Sunday include Grizzly Bear, M83, The Walkmen, The Thermals, Blitzen Trapper, Mew, Japandroids, Vivian Girls, and many more.

Tickets are currently only available for Friday night, but try your luck at Craigslist to find 3-day passes and tickets for Saturday and Sunday. Friday night tickets are $35.

Union Park is located at 1501 West Randolph at the corner of Ashland and Lake. Doors open Friday night at 4pm, and Saturday and Sunday at noon. There is no re-entry at the festival.

Ethics in Memoir @ Harold Washington Library

Three memoirists come to the Harold Washington Library as part of the DePaul Summer Writing Conference for a panel discussion on "Ethics in Memoir." Michele Morano is a professor at DePaul and author of the memoir Grammar Lessons: Translating a Life in Spain. Jackie Taylor is Dean of the University's College of Communications and author of Waiting for the Call. Carol LaCapelle has held several workshops on teaching people how to write their personal stories and is the author of Finding Your Voice, Telling Your Stories.
