It Came From The Neo-Futurarium: Legend

The Neo-Futurists end their eighth annual "film fest" It Came From The Neo-Futurarium VIII: Legend of the Neo-Futurarium tonight with a staged reading of the 1986 Ridley Scott epic Legend, with lots of boys, girls, unicorns and the Prince of Darkness. Dana Dardai of Camenae Ensemble directs the extravaganza. The show starts tonight at 8pm at the Neo-Futurarium (5153 N. Ashland at Foster). Invent the Future Workshop @ Bartlett

How should the region plan for the year 2040? This summer, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) will hold dozens of free public workshops called GO TO 2040 "Invent the Future". Information you contribute at these meetings will help CMAP develop a preferred scenario that will best reflect the region's desired future. Made in Chicago: World Class Jazz @ Millennium Park

Millennium Park's free jazz series, Made in Chicago: World Class Jazz, kicks off tonight at Pritzker Pavilion. Each week some of Chicago's leading jazz artists present a different style. Celebrating the convergence of two historic moments rooted in the art of democracy, tonight is a tribute to Presidents Lincoln and Obama by composers Elbio Barilari and Kahil El' Zabar:Echoes of Dreams and Inspiration:Chicago Improvisers Orchestra Presents Lincolniana and Sounds of Hope Suite. Performance by Chicago Improvisers Orchestra with special guests Orbert Davis, Maggie Brown, Henry Godinez and more.

Jessica Hopper Girls Guide to Rocking Reading & Garage Band How-To @ Harold Washington Library

Chicago music journalist Jessica Hopper reads from her new book Girls Guide to Rocking this afternoon at Harold Washington Library. Immediately afterward, the YOUmedia Center will hold a workshop on How To Use Garage Band. Both events are really for anyone: girls, boys, kids, adults--anyone curious about the how-tos of creating music or starting a band. 1:30-3:30pm. 400 S. Eschatol @ Goose Island Brewery

Chicago's own Eschatol (experimental-progressive-rock) and The Embraceables (pop-soul) perform tonight at Goose Island Brewpub (3535 N Clark St). The show is at 9pm, $5, 21+.

Atomic Sketch 1 Year Anniversary @ evilOlive

Tonight marks the 13th installment of the Atomic Sketch Event showcasing emerging Chicago artists, live art-making and an intimate look at the artists' process. Hosted by local art triumvirate, BCD Collaborative, the event marks the 1 year anniversary of Atomic Sketch and takes place, as always, at evilOlive (1551 W. Division St). The artists' panel includes: John Airo, Emmy Star Brown, Carlos Arteaga, Joey Potts, paranoidgirl, Torreyanna Barley, Brooks Golden, Joyce Vallejo, Michelle Mashon, Blütt, SUPAQOOT, Ethan Hutchinson and Ryan P.
