BFF Scavenger Hunt & Joyride Art Show

The Bicycle Film Festival throws a scavenger hunt and Joyride Art Show tonight. Registration for the scavenger hunt starts at 5:30pm in Union Park; the hunt begins at 6:30pm. The art show runs from 6pm to 10pm at the MCA Warehouse, 1747 W. Hubbard St., and features more than two dozen artists. Both events are free. The afterparty at Cobra Lounge, 235 N. Ashland Ave., from 9pm to 2am is 21+

Made in Chicago: World Class Jazz @ Millennium Park

Millennium Park's free jazz series, Made in Chicago: World Class Jazz, features some of Chicago's leading jazz artists present a different style each week. Tonight is "Sketches of Brazil: Robert Irving III's Tribute to Miles Davis and Gil Evans". The concert features Robert Irving III (composer, conductor, piano); Sonic Portraits Orchestra (a blend of 33 classical and jazz musicians); Wallace Roney (trumpet, flugelhorn); Fareed Haque (guitar), Dede Sampaio (percussion), Felipe Fraga (percussion), Charles Heath (percussion) and Miles Evans (trumpet).

Chicago SummerDance - Ghannata International

In this installment of the Chicago SummerDance Series, you can partake in African dance lessons (6-7pm) and watch Ghannata International perform from 7:30pm - 9:30pm. Located in the Spirit of Music Garden in Grant Park, 601 S. Michigan Avenue. Free admission.

Vaudezilla's Summertime Sizzel Revue @ The Blue Bayou

Thank the girls of Vaudezilla for the sudden Chicago heat wave! They'll continue their Thursday night reign at The Blue Bayou (3734 N Southport Ave, 773-871-3300) with their free Summertime Sizzle Revue tonight August 13th. Taste of the Nation @ Ravenswood Billboard Factory

Tonight's Taste of the Nation charity event brings together names from Chicago's culinary top shelf (Shawn McClain, Mindy Segal, Paul Kahan) to benefit anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength. Event runs 6-10pm at Ravenswood Billboard Factory, 4025 North Ravenswood. Tickets $175-250.

How should the region plan for the year 2040? This summer, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) will hold dozens of free public workshops called GO TO 2040 "Invent the Future". Information you contribute at these meetings will help CMAP develop a preferred scenario that will best reflect the region's desired future. Breeders @ Metro Double Door

If, at first mention of '90s icon The Breeders, you've got the first "aaaoooh" of "Cannonball" in your head for a few hours, then you'll want to hit this show.
