World Kitchen Learning Series @ Gallery 37

The "On the Cutting Edge" class, part of the city's World Kitchen learning series, will get you friendlier with the knife--in a good way. Class runs 6-8:30pm at the Gallery 37 Center for Arts at 66 East Randolph, admission is $30, and registration is required

The Neo-Futurists present "30 on Thursday"

The Neo-Futurists present "30 on Thursday", a remount of some classic plays from the archives of their 20-year-old show Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind. These classic plays are being presented as part of a fund-raising drive to help take their recent prime time show Beer to the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO. The show starts tonight at 9:30pm. Tickets are $15; $20 tickets are available, and include a post-show beer tasting at the Hopleaf (5148 N. Clark). See the Neo-Futurist Website for details. Slow Food Chicago's Tomato Fest Potluck Supper @ Chicago Honey Co-op

Tonight's Tomato Fest Potluck Supper @ Chicago Honey Co-op (3740 W. Fillmore) is another fine opportunity to eat well in a cool setting. Slow Food Chicago sponsors the 5:30pm-8pm event. Goose Island will provide the drinks. You must bring an appetizer or main course (preferably with tomatoes as an ingredient) or dessert. Tickets $10 for Slow Food members and Honey Co-op members; $15 for non-members. Kids free. Tours will be given of the Co-op, so be bee-friendly; wear light-colored clothing and skip the perfume.

Invent the Future Workshop @ Crerar Presbyterian Church

How should the region plan for the year 2040? This summer, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) will hold dozens of free public workshops called GO TO 2040 "Invent the Future". Information you contribute at these meetings will help CMAP develop a preferred scenario that will best reflect the region's desired future. Tonight’s workshop takes place from 6:30-8:30pm at the Crerar Presbyterian Church, 8100 S. Calumet Ave., Chicago. Visit goto2040.org for more information and to register.

Battle of the DJs @ Ohm

Dozens of Chicago's hottest DJs compete in the second round of preliminary battle tonight at Ohm Nightlife (1958 W. North Ave). Hosted by Chicago start-up RemixGalaxy, the Rockstar-sponsored event promises USB drive giveaways and loads of free energy drinks. Showcase starts at 10PM. 21+
