Even though last year's inaugural event left much to be desired, Chicago Gourmet returns again to Pritzker Pavilion today. While you eat small plate-style dishes from Chicago's most famous chefs and drink from the huge wine selection, you'll have lectures and the Pavilion to enjoy. Tickets from $115.
Extra Golden brings its wonderful, danceable, joyous music straight out of Nairobi and directly to Chicago's Hideout for two nights of intimate performances this weekend. Tropicalia pioneers Os Mutantes play tonight at the Subterranean. The last time the Brazilian Psychedelia band played in Chicago it was as headliners at Pitchfork. Eleven composers and as many wines come together in the ESS garden for an evening to stimulate the senses. Curator Matt Griffin has asked composers from across the U.S., Canada and the U.K. to create pieces that will be paired with fine wines selected by Michael Malinsky of In Fine Spirits. 5pm-8pm, $15.
