Facets Night School: [Rec]

Facets Cinematheque continues its Night School screenings in October with screenings of classic horror films Tonight's film is the recent Spanish horror film [Rec] and includes a pre-screening lecture and Q&A session after the film. Mike Perry Viewing Party @ Renegade Handmade

Renegade Handmade (1924 W. Division) hosts a viewing party for Mike Perry's InSound 10 Classic silkscreen posters tonight from 7pm to 9pm. The artwork, rock posters for punk, new-wave, and indie bands, will be displayed through Tuesday November 17th. Rob Carter Opening @ ebersmoore Gallery

Photographer and video artist Rob Carter's first US solo exhibition, "Stone on Stone," opens tonight at ebersmoore. The work employs stop motion animation, time-lapse video and photographic 're-constructions' to spotlight the iconic and political structures in our urban environment, especially sports stadia, skyscrapers, churches, and other historical landmarks. ebersmoore Gallery is located at 213 N. Mrs. Gruber's Ding Dong School

Easily the best Robot vs. Dinosaur show to date, Mrs. Gruber's Ding Dong School takes the audience through a twisted, rollicking day at an academy run by a doddering but feisty schoolmarm with an age-addled brain and a passion for expanding young minds. Spot on casting, warped sensibilities and imaginative puppetry give it a Wonder Showzen feel, without a hint of a knock-off. Tickets are $15, and the show runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm through Nov. 21 at Gorilla Tango, 1919 N. Milwaukee (right under the Western Blue Line stop). Exquisite: A Series of Corpses

Following in the tradition of exquisite corpse parlor games, Plastique Press and the Near Northwest Arts Council have developed this interactive poetry/visual art series, in which visual artists, poets, and writers collectively assemble a collection of words and/or images in one event. It takes place in the upstairs of St. Paul's Cultural Center (2215 W. North Ave.) from 7-11 PM. Additionally, CIMMFest will be showing short films on the lower level. Free. Costumes welcome.
