"Talking Point" Art Discussion @ The Hyde Park Art Center

Dan S. Wang is a Chicago-based artist and writer, who cocurated the HPAC's "Shanghype!" exhibition. Previous writings have appeared in Art Journal, ART asiapacific, Ten by Ten, and New Art Examiner. Wang is also involved with Mess Hall, a performance and exhibition space in Rogers Park. This discussion is part of a series of such, aiming to reinvent the artist talk, built around dialogue and conversation amongst all participants rather than lectures or panels. Join this growing community of artists, curators, students, and all around creative individuals for drinks, snacks, and lively discussion. This event is free, and begins at 6pm. Chicago Sinfonietta: Laughter @ Symphony Center

Tied to the Chicago Humanities Festival's theme of laughter, this symphony program explores composers' humorous leanings. The concert will include Divertissement by Jacques Ibert, Dead Elvis by Michael Daugherty, Le Boeuf sur la Toit by Darius Milhaud, and Symphony No. 4 by Felix Mendelssohn. Have a symphonic laugh at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $40, available through the Chicago Humanities Festival site.
