15th Annual Kwanzaa Observance Program @ Malcolm X College

Malcolm X College is hosting the 15th Annual Kwanzaa Observance Program today, starting at 10am. This is the last day of the largest known seven-day celebration of Kwanzaa in the country publicly held in an institution of higher learning. Admission is free. New Year's Day Pajama Brunch @ Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba

Start 2010 by brunching at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba (2024 N. Halsted) between 10am and 3pm--and you don't even need to get out of your pajamas. Order from Spanish-style brunch offerings, cava cocktails, and a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar. Complimentary churros and fresh-squeezed orange juice will also be available. New Year's Day 5K

Start 2010 on the right foot with the 25th Annual New Year's Day 5K Run/Walk. Starting at LaSalle and Stockton, this chip-timed run winds its way through Lincoln Park. The $30 entry fee gets you a long-sleeved t-shirt, and part of the proceeds goes to the Lakeview Citizens Council. It doesn't start until 11am, so you can even sleep in.
