Gracen Brilmyer's To Come From @ Knock Knock Gallery

Based on the artist's time spent while living in Sweden, Gracen Brilmyer's latest show, To Come From is a site-specific body of work that sifts through memories while living abroad. Working intuitively within self imposed time constraints, Brilmyer embraces the unique possibilities and foibles inherent within the printmaking process. Creating layers by printing over original drawings, paintings and other prints, the final pieces reference both reality and characters form the artist's own imagined narratives. Drawing influence from traditional comic books, the passage of time is depicted as multiple points within a single panel. Knock Knock Gallery is located at 3658 S. Wolcott #2F. The reception starts at 6pm.

The Masked Winter Ball @ Kimball Arts Center

The city is frozen. If you listen, you can hear the cold. Snow muffles the sounds of tires and brakes, howls and laughter, errands and wishes. The familiar rumble of the el pulses slightly farther away. Trees pose in heavy gowns of the softest snow, brick buildings wear glittering necklaces of icicles. Winter has dressed the city in her mysterious finery. The city whispers to you to celebrate winter! Swap your scarf for a mask, lose your boots for dancing shoes and go to the masked ball tonight. There will be music by Can Ky Ree, Baby Alright, DJ's Naomi Walker and Jocelyn Brown, and Ringmistress Cameron Esposito, as well as wild installations by several popular local artists. Masks encouraged, costumes adored, and dancing highly recommended! The party goes from 8pm - 2am. $15 - $50 sliding scale suggested donation. Space is limited so get there early! Kimball Arts is located at 1757 N. Kimball.
