Chicago Improv Festival Closing Festivities @ Martyrs

Closing night festivities for the 13th annual Chicago Improv Festival take place at Martyrs (3855 N. Lincoln Avenue) and include an opening act by the troupe Reset List, a roast of outgoing CIF Artistic Director Mark Sutton, and a closing act by Chicago troupe Schadenfreude. Tickets are $10, show starts at 8pm. For info and tickets call (773) 404-9494, tickets will be available at the box office on the day of the show.

Greek Independence Day Parade

Head slightly south of downtown the Greek Independence Day Parade in (surprise) Greektown. It goes from 2:30-4:30pm, beginning at Randolph and Halsted.

Ravenswood Run

5k run through historic Ravenswood. This is the 14th annual Ravenswood Run. Proceeds go to the Ravenswood Community Services Food Pantry at All Saints' Episcopal Church and the Student Health Centers at Lakeview and Amundsen High Schools. It starts at 8am at 4550 N. Hermitage. You can register at Fleet Feet's website.

International Reading Association's 55th Annual Convention

Taking place at McCormick Place through April 28, the convention features educational programming, speakers, and luncheons. Get tickets for individual events at the website.

Chicago Improv Festival @ Gorilla Tango Theater

Join Gorilla Tango Theater (1919 N. Milwaukee Avenue) for the final day of the Chicago Improv Festival, where apprentice improv teams will duke it out on stage. Troupes include: Fork; Knife Fight; Roving Imp Theater; Spite; and West of Shake Rag. Show starts at noon and costs $5. White Rabbits @ Metro

White Rabbits made waves last year with the intense, sometimes eerie, drum heavy album, It's Frightening.
