High Places @ Edible Audible Picnic

Grab your lunch and take it to Pritzker Pavilion at noon for an Edible Audible Picnic. High Places consist of Mary Pearson and Rob Barber. Since its inception, High Places has created a signature sound out of using bass-heavy, yet crisp beats, lilting vocal melodies, syncopated rhythmic lines performed on folk percussion instruments, guitar duets turned into treated samples, and percussive lines created from the manipulation of household objects. Their brand new record, High Places vs. Mankind, was released to rave reviews on Chicago's own Thrill Jockey label.

Kid Sister with Konono N°1 @ Downtown Sound in Millennium Park

After exploding onto the national music scene with the hugely popular single "Pro Nails" featuring Kanye West, Kid Sister's (Chicago's own Melisa Young) star has been on the rise. With the release of her album, Ultra Violet, and her new single, "Day Dreaming", featuring Cee-Lo, her first hometown show of the summer is without a doubt a can't-miss. Joining her tonight at the Downtown Sound series will be internationally renowned Congolese street band Konono N°1. 6:30pm. Pritzker Pavilion. Free.

Ratchet @ Skylark
