Facets Night School: Under The Cherry Moon

Facets Cinematheque presents Facets Night School, a weekly series of midnight screenings paired up with lectures, discussions, and much more. Tonight's screening: Prince's 1986 film Under The Cherry Moon, featuring an early role for Kristin Scott Thomas. Hey, We're All Beginners Here! @ Roots and Culture

Come out tonight to Hey, We're All Beginners Here! Line, Form, Color, Nutrients and Affection at Roots and Culture, 1034 N Milwaukee Ave at 6:00pm. Presented by the Network of Crowded Art, this exhibition features a historical narrative composed of a series of social events and collection of images includes drawings, an open stage and pulpit, a book making work shop, good food, video, wheat grass, and a bike ride to Shaumburg.. This exhibition features the work of Robin Hustle, Sarah Kavage, Pennie Brinson, Salem Collo-Julin, Sarah Ross, Red76, Sarah Smizz, Courtney Moran and Park McArthur. Orion Martin & Hudson Harring Berry @ Monument 2

Come out tonight at 7:00pm to see the work of Orion Martin & Hudson Harring Berry at Monument 2, 2007 N Point St. Activating the domestic tradition of the art object, this exhibition entitled Minutes Away From Downtown pairs, both ontologically and aesthetically, the paintings of artist Orion Martin with an ambitious installation of post-war furniture from the collection of design scholar Hudson Harring Berry.

Fillet of Solo Festival @ Lifeline Theater

Lifeline Theater (6912 N. Glenwood) and Live Bait Theater (3914 N. Clark Street) move into the second week of their 14th annual Fillet of Solo festival with a 7pm performance by Dorothy Milne entitled "Grown Up", followed by 8:30pm performances by Julie Ganey, performing her piece The Half-Life of Magic, and Caitlin Parrish, performing Strapped. Great Cemeteries of Chicago Tour @ Graceland Cemetery

Dedicated to helping Chicagoans discover the hidden gems that surround them, Chicago Neighborhood Tours explores a different type of neighborhood with an excursion to Graceland Cemetery. The Great Cemeteries of Chicago tour includes art and architecture honoring a number of important figures that had a hand in shaping our great city, including architects Louis Sullivan and Daniel Burnham, retailer Marshall Field and hotelier Potter Palmer. Check-in and departure from the Chicago Cultural Center at 10am. Adults: $30; Seniors: 65+, students with valid ID and children 8-18: $25. Girls Rock! Chicago End-Of-Camp Extravaganza @ Metro

Girls Rock! presents their end-of-camp session concert featuring campers aged 8-16. The nonprofit organization runs a summer camp dedicated to musicianship for girls. The campers have formed bands, and will be performing in front of a live audience this afternoon at Metro (3730 N. Clark). Doors open at 3pm, show starts at 3:30. Lollapalooza @ Grant Park

The multi-stage multi-day festival known universally as Lollapalooza returns to Grant Park this weekend for fun in the sun with thousands of your new best friends. The Chicago Metaphysical Circus presents: PSYCHAPALOOZA @ Locked Out

Two-Hour Comedy Hour @ Gallery Cabaret

This week's Two-Hour Comedy Hour will be hosted by Mike Lebovitz and features comedians Mikey Manker, Lane Pieschel, Trey Mowder, Dara Katz and Jon Lyons. Grant Park Orchestra with the Lyric Opera @ Harris Theater

LVL3 @ Art on Track

In motion today at 5:00pm, LVL3 will be showcasing the works of Jacob Goudreault, Alyssa Herlocher, Ben Medansky and Marcus Ober ON a CTA Train! Art on Tracks is a mobile art experience aboard an eight-car CTA train, which circles the Chicago loop for a day long celebration of fine arts culture.
