The Joffrey Ballet opens their 2010-2011 Season with "All Stars", a performance featuring George Balanchine's Stravinsky Violin Concerto (1972), an homage to Igor Stravinsky; Balanchine's brief but explosive pas de deux Tarantella; Christopher Wheeldon's After the Rain (2005); and Jerome Robbins' charming and hilarious The Concert (1956). The performance takes place at 7:30pm at Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Pkwy. When Jason & the Scorchers burst onto the music scene in the early 80s, they borrowed from country-infused rockers like Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, but also had an influence of the first wave of punk rock. Their early releases Fervor and Lost & Found were lauded by critics, and their live show was recognized in 2008 by the Americana Music Association for a Lifetime Achievement Award for Performing.
