Facets Fright School: Evil Ed

Facets Cinematheque presents the latest in their current series of midnight movies, Facets Fright School. Tonight's film is the Swedish film Evil Ed, about an editor who's forced to work on a low-budget horror film, with disastrous results. The film will be introduced by film enthusiast Jason Frederick. Taste of the Neighborhoods Tour

The City hosts a tour today of the eats representing selected neighborhoods around Chicago--Greek on Halsted, Italian on Taylor, South side BBQ, Middle Eastern in Albany Park--and you can join them! The Taste of the Neighborhoods tour series meets monthly; destinations are announced a few weeks before the tour, so contact the City to find out what's on the menu for today.

Joffrey Ballet "All Stars" @ Auditorium Theatre

The Joffrey Ballet opens their 2010-2011 Season with "All Stars," a performance featuring George Balanchine's Stravinsky Violin Concerto (1972), an homage to Igor Stravinsky; Balanchine's brief but explosive pas de deux Tarantella; Christopher Wheeldon's After the Rain (2005); and Jerome Robbins' charming and hilarious The Concert (1956). The performances take place at 2 pm and 7:30 pm at Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Pkwy. Tickets are $25-145, and available for purchase at The Joffrey Ballet's official Box Office, located in the lobby of 10 E. Project: Vision - Fall Soiree & Silent Auction

k-os @ Lincoln Hall

Genre crossing rapper k-os takes over Lincoln Hall tonight with openers Shad, Astronautalis, and DJ Castle. k-os creates a blend of soul, pop, and hip-hop, not your typical rap show fodder, drawing influence from The Roots and A Tribe Called Quest to New Order and Depeche Mode.

The show is at Lincoln Hall (2424 N Lincoln Ave), is an 18+ show and starts at 10pm. Tickets are $15 and you can purchase them here.

IRREGULAR a fashion homage by Renovar @ Heaven Gallery

Alma Weiser -- appointed "mother" of Heaven Gallery and the designer behind Renovar -- pays homage to the Japanese designers of the late 20th century (Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo for Comme Des Garcons) and their anti-fashion movement in a runway show that highlights their aesthetic from the late 60s to present day. IRREGULAR a fashion homage by Renovar takes place at Heaven Gallery, 1550 N Milwaukee, 2nd floor. Doors open at 8pm and the show begins at 9pm. Urban Folk Circuit

Penguin Foot Pottery Grand Opening

Long-time art teacher and ceramics artist Chris Busse is opening his own studio with partner Paige Bailey, and offering a variety of classes for all ages and skill levels: learn to hand-sculpt, throw with the wheel, or work with tile, in a bright, attractive space conveniently located near the Western Blue Line stop. Exhibiting artists include Chris Busse (ceramics), Tina Chan (jewelry), and Sean Hewe (paintings).

Pelican @ Bottom Lounge

Hometown instrumental metal heroes Pelican play tonight at Bottom Lounge at a very special show that celebrates 10 years of music and a box set release of the band's three EPs and four full-length albums, that will be available mid-October. The festivities will also include a yet to be named Pelican inspired beer brewed by Three Floyds Brewery that will be served at the show and available in local bars for a limited time. Red Rover Series @ Outer Space Studio

The Red Rover series is back with Experiment #40, and this time they're doing Poetry TV. Come to the Outer Space Studio (1474 N. Milwaukee) at 7pm tonight to watch Red Rover do what it does best -- host a "reading that plays with reading."
