Chicago group The Sea & Cake returns home for a show with Brighton MA tonight at Lincoln Hall. Their latest album, Car Alarm, was their eighth together, and showcases the "well-oiled band" they've become together over the years. Tickets are $18.00 ($20 Door). 10pm. 2424 N. Lincoln. 21+
The Chicago Human Rhythms Project (CHRP) will conclude its 20th season during Thanksgiving weekend performances at Harris Theater, 205 E. Randolph St. When you purchase a ticket to any of these performances, you'll be giving back to Chicago area non-profits through the Thanks 4 Giving program. You will receive a ten percent discount just by mentioning an area non-profit when purchasing your ticket. Plus, CHRP will donate 50 percent of the revenue from your ticket purchase to the organization you mention. Performances take place at 3 pm and 7 pm. The Portage Theater presents Dino-Mite Saturday, an afternoon of dinosaur movies starting at 2pm. Among the movies presented will be Destroy All Monsters, The Land Unknown and Jurassic Park 3. The price is two cookies for an evening of readings by top-notch literary pupils from Columbia College's Fiction Writing Program at Fritz Pastry in Lakeview. Featured readers include: Jenele Anderson, Liz Baudler, Kate Kirk, Benny Kumming, Lauryn Allison Lewis, Frank Migacz, and John Wawrzaszek. Two Cookie Minimum promotes self publishers, new writers, and the Chicago zine scene. Free, but donations will be accepted towards the upcoming 2011 Chicago Zine Fest.
