A John Waters Christmas @ Harris Theater
The Baltimore-born "Pope of Trash" brings his version of holiday spirit to Chicago tonight with the acclaimed A John Waters Christmas, a series of rapid-fire monologues employing his trademark dark humor and hilariously inappropriate wit. 7:30pm, 205 E. The Second City That Never Sleeps: Letters to Santa @ Second City ETC
This 24-hour-long party, which begins at 7pm tonight, features music from a range of local acts (among them Jeff Tweedy, JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound, Robbie Fulks, Steve Albini and Danielson Famile) and comedy from local improvisers and actors. Your $15 ticket, which is good for exit and re-entry (if you have to go to work, blegh), benefits needy families. Event is at Second City ETC, 1608 N Wells.
Sunday Dinner @ Floriole
I ate a sandwich at Floriole earlier this fall that just about melted my face off. (In a good way.) An impressive feat when all you're working with is bread, ham, cheese, butter and mustard. So imagine what's going to happen when roaming restaurateurs Sunday Dinner comes over to use the bakery's giant, sky-lighted space to whip up a multi-course meal on Monday and Tuesday, December 13 and 14. According to Tasting Table, winter salads, truffled mac and cheese and chestnut soufflé are to be expected, as well as wine pairings! Call or email the bakery to make a reservation. Dinner starts at 7pm, and will cost you $85. (But remember, wine! Face-melting! Totes worth it.)
