MasterChef Viewing Party
Join MasterChef contestant Suzy Singh on the rooftop at The Wit tonight for a viewing party. Suzy has created a special Punjabi Flatbread Pizza for the event. The Wit is located at 201 N State Street. The party starts at 6pm with a contestant meet and greet. The show airs at 8pm and there will be post party celebrations at 9pm. All you have to do is show up.
The Moth StorySLAM @ Martyrs
The Moth StorySLAM returns to Martyrs, tonight's theme is "fireworks." 10 lucky readers will have their name drawn and get 5 minutes to tell a story, sans notes, onstage in front of a live audience. Stories are judged, and at the end of the evening a winner is declared. This event sells out very quickly (no, seriously), get to Martyrs (3855 N. Lincoln) early for a spot, even earlier if you want a seat. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $8 or online for an additional $2 service fee. Stories start at 8pm.
Heshima Kenya Fashion Challenge
Start with a scarf. Add hope. Create beauty. That's the theme of Tuesday's HK 2011 Fashion Challenge in which ten up-and-coming designers compete Project-Runway style. Each designer has 2 weeks leading up to the event to design an original women's look using a hand-dyed scarf from the Maisha Collective. Guests will also have a chance to bid on the designer looks created for the event. See the website for ticket info (General Admission : $50; VIP Tickets : $120). This event will be held at the West Loop's Room 1520 from 6pm to 9pm.
Summer Stroll @ Lurie Garden
